Continuing the Work in Dearborn

Dearborn remains a unique and strategic mission field. As many of you know, it is one of the largest centers of Islamic influence in the United States. We were recently reminded of this once again during the month of Ramadan, when the city was visibly engaged in observance with homes decorated, public spaces lit, and even official recognition by the city through Ramadan displays downtown.

At the same time, recent events in our region have underscored the tensions that can arise in such an environment. Incidents in the Metro Detroit area, including a tragic attack on a local synagogue involving a Dearborn resident, have impacted the community deeply. Additionally, global events often have a direct effect on the atmosphere here.

These realities remind us that this is both a challenging and critical place for gospel ministry. We are especially thankful for your prayers, that we might continue to minister with wisdom, compassion, and boldness.

Media Ministry: The Christ Is Podcast

One of the ways we are seeking to engage this context is through our Christ Is media ministry. We have been recording from our studio here in Dearborn and producing content aimed at addressing Islamic teaching in light of Scripture.

This year, we have begun a critical reading of the Quran, examining its claims, identifying inconsistencies, and comparing it carefully with the truth of the Bible. Our goal is not simply to critique, but to clearly present Christ and the gospel.

A New Church Plant: Detroit Baptist Church

We are also excited to share a major milestone: the sending out of our first church plant from Dearborn Baptist Church.

We recently had the privilege of ordaining and commissioning Justin and Joanna Neal to plant Detroit Baptist Church. This is a significant step forward, and we are rejoicing in what God is doing.

The Neals are currently beginning deputation to raise support. We encourage you to pray for them and consider how you might be involved in this new work in the city of Detroit. Updates can be followed through social media on both Dearborn Baptist Church and Detroit Baptist Church.

New Resources for Reaching Muslims

In addition to ongoing outreach and evangelism, we have also been working to develop tools that can help believers more effectively reach Muslims.

We are excited to introduce two new publications as part of this effort:

1. The Challenge of Islam by Samuel Zwemer
This classic work, originally published in 1907, was written by one of the most influential missionaries to Muslims. Zwemer’s deep study of Islam and his lifelong ministry among Muslim people provide insights that remain remarkably relevant today. This book serves as both an introduction to Islamic belief and a practical guide for engaging Muslims with the gospel.

2. The Undeniable Cross by Josh Levesque
This short book addresses a central and often overlooked question: Who actually died on the cross? While the crucifixion of Christ is foundational to Christianity, it is explicitly denied in Islam.

In this work, we present both biblical and historical evidence demonstrating that Jesus Christ truly died on the cross, and why this truth is essential to the gospel. It is designed as an accessible resource, especially useful for sharing with Muslim friends, coworkers, or neighbors.

We plan to distribute these resources widely here in Dearborn, particularly around Easter and throughout the year. Both books are also available on Amazon, and we would be glad to help connect you with copies.

A Strategic Opportunity

Dearborn is a place of great need, but also great opportunity. We believe that by reaching people here, we can have an impact far beyond this city. The connections and influence of this community extend across the United States and around the world.

It is our prayer that God would use this ministry not only to reach Dearborn, but to help equip others to reach Muslims wherever they are.
