Hello, this is Josh Levesque, your missionary to Dearborn, Michigan, with a quick video update on how things are going this spring in Dearborn.
0:09
Uh, by God's grace, the ministry continues to grow, and we've had a wonderful start to our outreach season this spring and a wonderful Easter Sunday.
0:17
As you can see, I'm recording here in our studio, which we've been able to invest in and produce the Christ Is Conference and the Christ Is podcast, uh, where this year we've been examining the Quran critically, comparing it to scripture, uh, trying to examine its claims and point out inconsistencies, uh, while also examining the I am statements of Christ.
0:36
And so if you're interested in that, you can find it on our Christ Is Conference channels, and, uh, it would help us if you follow those and help share some of that content that we're putting out.
0:44
Uh, here in Dearborn, ministry continues to move forward, however, not without challenge.
0:48
Uh, we recently came through the month of Ramadan, which is always just a, a vivid reminder of the strong Islamic influence here in the city.
0:56
Uh, a brand new mosque opened and was dedicated, uh, this Ramadan, uh, which is now claiming to be one of, if not the largest mosque in North America, at least competing for that claim with a few other Dearborn mosques.
1:08
Um, and of course, we're also recently, uh, had the attack on a synagogue that happened here in Detroit, uh, during the month of Ramadan as well. And, uh, all of these things hit close to home.
1:21
And when there are tensions and wars in the Middle East, as there has been for the past couple years, including the recent, um, events in Iran, uh, these all hit close to home in Dearborn because there are, uh, residents and immigrants from all of these places that live here and work here.
1:38
And so we just are grateful for your prayers that we continue to be able to minister and preach the gospel here with wisdom and boldness and also compassion, uh, on these, these people and on their families and communities.
1:49
Um, and in the midst of this, God's opening doors.
1:51
Uh, one of the most exciting developments has been the announcement of our first church plant out of Dearborn Baptist Church, uh, and that is the start of Detroit Baptist Church just next door.
2:01
And we were able to, uh, train and commission, uh, Justin Neal and his wife Joanna, uh, to plant Detroit Baptist Church, uh, in the year twenty twenty-seven. And so they're just starting off on deputation.
2:12
I hope you'll be able to, uh, support them and, uh, hear about the work that they're doing soon as well. Um, and alongside our outreach efforts, uh, we've continued...
2:22
which will continue through this summer, uh, as we have more opportunity and, and weather to, to be out in the community, um, we've been working on s- developing some resources to, uh, help us and you reach Muslims more effectively with the gospel.
2:37
And so this has led to a couple additions to our Christ Is ministry through publishing. And so I'm excited to share these resources with you.
2:43
Uh, the first work that we've just put out this spring, uh, is called The Challenge of Islam. It is a reprint of a classic work by Samuel Zwemer. He's known as the apostle to Islam.
2:53
Uh, he spent most of his life, uh, in the Middle East studying Islam, uh, at its source and in its original sources. And he has some incredible insights on the nature of Islam and, uh, how to share the gospel as well.
3:05
And so, uh, we wanna share this with you. Uh, and the other one that I'm really excited to be able to share with you, uh, is really my first contribution, uh, in writing here, and, uh, it's called The Undeniable Cross.
3:17
Uh, and I wrote this, uh, from, uh, some work that we did in the Christ Is Conference, answering the question specifically of who died on the cross.
3:24
And, uh, this is the central contradiction of Christianity and Islam, uh, where Islam, uh, denies the fact that it was actually Jesus that died on the cross.
3:34
And so this is intended to be an evangelistic resource that you could give to a, a Muslim friend or neighbor or really anyone who is skeptical of the crucifixion, um, but would also help equip you to have better conversations about the crucifixion and, uh, prepare to answer questions that you might face.
3:49
And so we want you to be able to have both of these. They're both available on Amazon, um, but of course you can always reach out to us directly if you'd like to get these in bulk.
3:56
Um, and, uh, we would love to be able to get those in your hands, uh, to be able to reach the Muslim community around you. Uh, ultimately, we believe that being here in Dearborn, um, gives us a unique opportunity.
4:07
It's a, it's a place of great need, um, but it's a place, um, that, that gives us a great potential, uh, that through reaching Dearborn and, and learning here in Dearborn, uh, we'll be able to produce resources and, and meet people that are ultimately gonna help us reach Muslims all around the United States and all around the world.
4:26
And so we're excited to be able to produce some of these resources and hope that it can be a help to you, uh, as you minister to the community around you. Thank you for supporting us.
4:35
Thank you for praying for us and just for being a great part of the work that God's continuing to do here in Dearborn, Michigan. God bless.
